New Newsletter Format
We needed to change the way we sent out the newsletter to our members so this is our first attempt with the new format. Hopefully you like it and you will continue to get emails from the club that look professional and actually make it in your mailbox. Although our last meeting for the year was November 2nd, we are busy planning for our banquet in February and our yearly christmas donation of Rods and Reels for the Children of our Marines at Camp Pendleton

This year is quickly coming to a close and our club has made it through another successful year. When I look back at this year's fishing season I will remember it for one of the slowest pelagic years I have ever fished. I will also remember it as my best year for White Sea Bass and Halibut fishing. Personally I had a great season, I was able to fish with my friends, enjoy the water, compete in our tournaments, hang out with members at our meetings, listen to some great speakers, win a few raffle items, and just enjoy our club. What else can you ask for in a fishing club?
Hopefully you were one of the lucky anglers who caught a largest fish for the year and are in the running for a custom OAC jacket. Great for you, if not, don't give up, the year is not over, and if you catch a top fish before December 31st it still counts for this year. We are still getting reports of White Sea Bass being caught in La Jolla and at the Islands, there are squid up and down the coast almost everywhere, and of course we always have bass.
We are also planning a small dock party to coincide with the Oceanside Yacht Club's Boat Parade. This year it has been scheduled for December 11th. I will get more information on this in your next email I send to you. I am trying to see what docks we can join and how many people we may end up with. If you have a boat in a slip and would like to have a few OAC members down let me know what dock you are on and I will get this setup. Also it would be nice to have a few OAC boats in the boat parade. Send me an email if you are planning to participate in the boat parade this year.
The board of directors has decided on a new venue for this year's banquet. This year it will be held on February 19th, 2011 at the Ocean House in Carlsbad. We will have applications for this available on our website and mailed to your residence in late December. Please send them back as quickly as possible so we can let them know how many members will be joining us this year. Also don't forget to send in your membership for the club early. We had several people catch big fish for the year prior to sending in their membership and they will be very cold without a custom OAC jacket to keep them warm.
Happy Thanksgiving!

| YEARLY BANQUET |
Don't forget to save the date for our yearly banquet. This year the event will be held on February 19th, 2011 at the Ocean House at Carlsbad Village This venue will give us more room, a better layout, and great food for you and your loved ones to show your support of the club and win some great raffle items. |
| CATALINA TRIP |
To help get the club out fishing in the off season we have decided to set up a club trip to Catalina Island. We will be fishing for White Sea Bass, Yellowtail, Bass and Halibut, hooping for lobster, barbecuing, partying, and just plain having fun. We are planning on the weekend of January 7th, 8th and 9th. We will be staying in Two Harbors and it would be great to have as many OAC boats there as possible. Come on out for 3 days, 2 days or just a few hours and enjoy hanging out with other members. Weather permitting, we will try and have a raft up of boats from 12pm to 5pm on Saturday for BBQ's, swapping of fish stories, and jumping from boat to boat and meeting your fellow members. We will need to split up by 5pm so everyone can get some lobster fishing done and the possible night bite of the elusive White Sea Bass. Please either call at 760-801-1665 or email at fallrent@tfb.com and let me know if you plan to make the trip. If the weather is bad we will cancel the trip and plan it for another date.. |
